As one of two Principals of The Tauber Companies, David actively directs the Carbon Black Feedstocks Division for all domestic and international market development. Additionally, he oversees the day-to-day operations of Tauber, including trading, banking, accounting, administration, and risk management.
David is a member of the Board of Trustees of Star of Hope, Carolina College of Biblical Studies and First Liberty Institute. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the College of Biblical Studies, the largest minority biblical college in the U.S. located in Houston, Texas. He also actively serves at Second Baptist Church of Houston as a Deacon and as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
David graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. After graduation, he immediately joined Tauber Oil Company, then under the direction of O.J. Tauber, Sr.

As one of two Principals of The Tauber Companies, Richard Tauber actively oversees the day-to-day operations of the companies, including trading, banking, accounting, administration, and risk management.
He is also President of Tauber Exploration & Production Co., a family owned and operated business active in ranching, real estate, stocks, and oil & gas.
Richard graduated from Texas Christian University in May, 1979, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Finance. Immediately after graduation from TCU, he joined Norwood Chemical Company as a marketer in their chemicals division, subsequently joining Tauber Oil Company in March, 1980.
Currently, Richard serves on the Board of the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and was the President of the Petroleum Club of Houston for the 2013/2014 term.
Jonathan Tauber joined Tauber Oil Company in May 2009, and currently serves as President. Jonathan actively oversees the day-to-day operations of the companies including trading, banking, accounting, administration and risk management. He has also been active in the natural gas business unit as a scheduler and gas marketer.
Prior to his tenure at Tauber Oil Company, Jonathan worked as a land manager for Crew Land
Research in Fort Worth, TX, leasing acreage for Chesapeake Energy.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wake Forest University and a Masters in Business
Administration from the Jones School of Business at Rice University.

David Tauber, Jr. currently serves as Executive Vice President and directs the Carbon Black Feedstocks division as well as the day-to-day operations including trading, banking, accounting, administration and risk management.
David Jr. joined Tauber Oil Company in July 2010 as Operations Manager for the Petrochemicals business unit, later moving into the Marine Gasoil and Canadian Crude business units where he was responsible for the day-to-day marketing of those business units, as well as the operations and scheduling of Marine Gas Oil.
David graduated from Texas Christian University in 2008. Prior to joining Tauber, David was a natural gas broker at IVG Energy, where he built a large book of traders and traded physical and financial basis markets.

Mr. Sassin is a 1976 graduate of Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State), with a BBA in Accounting. He obtained his Certified Public Accountant Certificate in 1984. Mr. Sassin has worked for The Tauber Companies since 1979. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Tauber Oil Company and Tauber Exploration & Production Co.

Rob Smith joined Tauber Oil Company in January 2021 as Senior Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining Tauber, Rob was an Executive Director with ABN AMRO. During his career, Rob has worked in financial leadership roles with BNP Paribas, Atmos Energy, Dynegy, and Wells Fargo. Rob holds a BS in Finance from the University of South Florida and an MS in Finance from Indiana University.

“Jonathan “JJ” Lietzke has joined Tauber Oil Company November 1, 2021, as General Counsel. JJ is an energy attorney with broad expertise in commodity transactions. He has experience structuring and negotiating standardized and bespoke commodity transactions and mitigating risks inherent in energy trading. His counsel includes advising on contract structures and credit arrangements in trading and structured, asset-based transactions.
Prior to joining Tauber Oil Company JJ was Legal Counsel to Gunvor USA LLC and helped Gunvor grow its U.S. presence. Before Gunvor, JJ worked for Atmos Energy Corporation supporting their traders, pipeline operations, and on occasion right-of-way team. Additionally, he was an advisory board member of Lone Star Credit Union. JJ also served as Legislative Aide to Texas State Representative Joe Moody of El Paso during the 81st Texas Legislature.
JJ holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence, Masters in Business Administration, and Bachelors in Business Management each from Texas Tech University.
